Well, I stumbled onto this place through a yahoo search, and was curious. I hope to be a contributing member. I dont race go karts, I just fix them, and ride them around. I can be somewhat helpful on older 2-6hp b&s motors. So feel free to ask, and I hope everyone here doesn't mind if I ask.. My gokart , I purchased two of them from a friend, and one had a motor, the other didn't, both are two seaters, from the late 70s-early 80s, or newer, not sure, no tages or identification. I will post pics as soon as I can. The one motor is a 5hp briggs, I think it is 70s or 80s, it has the solid steel/aluminium housing and crank, all bolted, no rivets. great block, great cylinder, no scratches. Needs rings badly however. I am doing a full rebuild on it soon. I already outfitted it with a new carb and gas tank(old stuff was rusted out) Carb has permanent jet placement, I might upgrade carbs becuase of that. Motor was taken care of, but used a lot. Rings are so shot it wont start now, and I plan to rebuild the whole thing, and put in a new coil, becuase the old one has a cracked housing. The other gokart, I am outfitting with a 6.5hp briggs i/c ohv motor, which might get animalized. Anyway, enough yapping on my part. Hope to get to know some of you.
