can i mount a vertical shaft engine sideways? i understand the carb cant be sideways, and i could easly change the intake pipe so that the carb sits the way it should, and i would have to make an oil pipe bent to it would go up instead of sideways.....but is it possable? would the engine run, or would it just screw it up?
thank you in advance!

As much work as it would take i would just recommend getting a different motor.

Thing is, the crank case, it is designed to sling the oil from the bottom sitting upright, so putting it sideways, the oil would just lay there and everything would burn up in seconds IF IT RAN, which it probably wouldn't start because the air valve release would be full of oil. Yeah, just get on ebay and get a 6.5hp vertical shafy for like $100.
Hope that helped.. Alex

yeah it would just be alot of work...i think what you got your hands on is like a manual lawnmower and what you need is like an edger, because that has the sideways shaft (but its notmally not high in hp)
